A GARDEN LIKE NO OTHER!

I love how the Bible describes the Garden of Eden in Genesis.  The mystery of it always made me think of the why and where it is now, and how awesome is the cherubim He placed at the east of the garden  and that amazing flaming sword which magically turned every way to “keep (block) the way to the tree of life”!  No magician or cartoon animator could  ever compare to this real life and strange sight.  There are so many questions and sights in my imagination.  However, I don’t want answers just yet.  I love a good mystery and there isn’t anyone who can give the true answers – just speculation.
The two trees God put in the middle of the Garden are the center of one mystery.  Side by side, in the center is the Tree of Life(TL) and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Gen 2:9). The Tree of Life is again written about in Revelation 22 where it bears 12 different types of fruit, yielding every month.
The second, Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (TKGT), like most forbidden things was pleasing to the eye, offered food and something new – excitement or that was the way it was presented.  In my searching, this tree is not spoken of again in the Bible – what happened to it?
I have an opinion about the fruit of the TKGT – it no longer exists.  It isn’t our present-day apple, tomato or pear.  When the Garden was closed, the TKGT was taken care of never to be seen or eaten from since.
Also, where is the Garden? Where is the sword? Where is the cherubim?  Perhaps it was wiped away when the flood came?  Could it be hidden in plain sight! Or......what do you think?
Thank you for reading my thoughts….

  1. Ohh I love fun questions like these! I have always believed that the garden of Eden was where the fertile crescent now lies. The Bible says it was between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers as well as the Pishon and the Gihon. The Tigris and Euphrates are still there, but I believe the Garden and all its fruit and the other two rivers were wiped out in the flood. I jokingly sometimes say that the forbidden fruit was the passion fruit, but I don't really believe that. Like you, I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist on Earth anymore, but I won't be surprised to see it in Heaven! Nice Blog!

  2. I agree with Naomi on the placement of the Garden here on Earth. It may have been obliterated over time when the weeds grew up around it or destroyed by the flood. I don't think that it was destroyed immediately by the angels sent to guard it against Adam and Eve's re-entry because the animals and plants growing inside the garden may have been all there was on the Earth at that time and they needed time to migrate outside. It would be interesting to know the timeline of all that!

The tree itself I don't believe will ever be seen again, either here or hereafter. I feel that it was the "object of choice" given by God to mankind to seal the will of human beings. He has always had angels to do His bidding without question, but he wanted a family to choose to love and obey Him. How could that be done in a place where there was only one choice? After Adam and Eve chose to disobey and eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil there would have been no further need of the tree and I truly don't expect to see it in Heaven!

Further note: Some people say that we wouldn't have had "knowledge" if Adam and Eve hadn't eaten the fruit. But I think that it only means just what it says, that they would know that there was good AND evil and the difference between them. I feel that Adam was created as a genius, using ALL of his brain capacity and was certainly knowledgeable, and that all was good. The fact that he ate of the fruit also confirms to me that there is a vast difference between intelligence and wisdom!

Also, I feel that if they hadn't eaten the fruit, at some point somebody would have! I'm thankful it wasn't me!

    Love you, Barb

  3. I believe that both trees still exist. However they are not on earth. The tree of life is so powerful that since God banished Adam & Eve from the garden he couldn't leave it on Earth for man to "get his destructive hands on it" So he has transplanted it to Heaven along with the tree of good & evil. Do I have scripture to back up my thinking? No, just thinking that God has plans for both trees and therefore didn't destroy them. But put them in the safest place there is. Eddie
